Abstract
Abstract In the purification of tertiary butyl hydroperoxide from an isobutane oxidate mixture by the use of water in an atmospheric pressure distillation process the formation of flammable vapor phase tertiary butyl hydroperoxide-water mixtures is avoided by diluting such mixtures with a non-soluble, non-condensing gas, such as methane, ethane, ethylene, carbon monoxide, nitrogen or argon.
