Abstract
Abstract A soft substantially gas and liquid impervious sanitary toilet seat assembly in which the seat has an integral outer skin of an impervious film former and a core of polyurethane foam having an integral high density tough skin and an inner core of lower density soft foam containing cells at least partially filled with a gas. Wholly embedded witin and surrounded by the inner core and high density tough skin is a substantially rigid insert. A hinge is secured to the seat to permit physical movement of the seat. The seat assembly is gas-tight having substantially no gas lost through the outer skin. The gas is simply displaced wholly witin the outer skin. No odors are transmitted by the toilet seat assembly.

A soft, substantially gas and liquid impervious, sanitary toilet seat assembly comprising: a seat having an integral outer skin consisting essentially of an impervious film former, a core of polyurethane foam having an integral high density tough skin and an inner core of lower density soft foam containing cells at least partially filled with a gas, a substantially rigid insert positioned within and surrounded by said inner core and said high density tough skin, and hinge means secured to said seat to permit pivotal movement of said seat whereby in use said gas is displaced wholly within said outer skin to provide a soft surface without transmitting odors.
