Abstract
Abstract The process disclosed herein involves the cyclization of benzene sulfenamides and derivatives thereof to produce 1,2benzisothiazolin-3-ones in accordance with the following reaction: WHEREIN R is a hydrocarbon or substituted hydrocarbon radical as defined hereinafter, R'' is a hydrocarbon or substituted hydrocarbon radical as defined hereinafter, Y is an inert group, and n is an integer of 0 to 2 in value. The products are useful as bacteriocides and fungicides.
