Abstract

Abstract A support member of a circuit element is provided with openings extending therethrough, and in each of these openings there is lodged one contact sleeve which is provided with a center passage having one end portion whose cross section is circular and which is adapted to accommodate a contact pin, and another end portion whose cross section is convergent in direction away from the first-mentioned end portion and whose smallest cross section is somewhat less than the cross section of a contact wire. In the region of the convergent end portion the sleeve is provided with an axial slot so that it can be somewhat expanded. Thus, the circuit element can be used with both contact pins and contact wires, at the will of a user.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 167 words
In a plug-in circuit element for use with larger-diameter contact pins and with smaller-diameter contact wires, a combination comprising a support member; and at least one contact sleeve mounted on said support member and provided with a center passage, said contact sleeve having a first longitudinal portion extending partially from one end to an other end of said sleeve, and a second longitudinal portion extending from said first portion to said other end, and said center passage having a first elongated section of a constant diameter located within said first portion and adapted to accommodate a contact pin in frictional surface-to-surface engagement, and a second elongated portion of a smaller diameter than said first portion located within said second portion and adapted to accommodate a contact wire in frictional surface-to-surface engagement said first and second portions being connected by a tapered portion of said passage, said sleeve being further provided with an axial slot extending from said other end toward said one end past said tapered portion.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 167 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 51 words
A combination as defined in claim 1; and further comprising at least one contact wire insertable through said first longitudinAl portion into said second longitudinal portion, said contact wire having an outer diameter greater than the smallest inner diameter of said second longitudinal portion so as to be frictionally retained therein.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 30 words
A combination as defined in claim 1, wherein said second longitudinal portion, is deformed to partially flattened configuration in parallelism with a plane passing centrally and longitudinally through said slot.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 34 words
A combination as defined in claim 1, said support member having an opening and said contact sleeve extending through said opening; and wherein said first longitudinal portion is in part located within said opening.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 65 words
A combination as defined in claim 4, wherein said contact sleeve has a free axial end from which said second longitudinal portion extends inwardly towards said other end portion; and wherein said contact sleeve is provided with an exterior circumferential collar which is spaced axially from said free axial end by a distance which is at least equal to the thickness of said support member.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 25 words
A combination as defined in claim 1; and further comprising at least one contact pin insertable into said first longitudinal portion for frictional retention therein.
