Abstract
Abstract Selective hydrogenation of C4 acetylenes in admixture with other C4 hydrocarbons including butadiene by liquid phase hydrogenation in which a hydrogen stream diluted to not more than 50 mole percent hydrogen in inert gas is employed as a sole source of hydrogen over a palladium on kieselguhr catalyst in which from .01 to 1.0 weight percent palladium is impregnated to a depth of at least 0.012 inch on a kieselguhr support having macropores of greater than 700 A constituting at least 75 percent of the total pore volume thereof.
