Abstract
Abstract A coffee maker has a jet pump for impelling liquid up a fountain tube or release into an infusion basket. The fountain tube is supported by a pump housing which is received in a heated well where pump-operating pressure is generated. Construction of the pump housing is simplified by making it of a unitary piece with a lower longitudinal bore open to the well and an upper transverse bore for admitting liquid into the well and into the fountain tube. Pumping efficiency is improved by flaring the lower end of the fountain tube. Mineral deposition in the well is minimized by making the pump housing of a material which has a lower coefficient of thermal conductivity than the well.
