Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim
67 words
A METHOD OF TRANSFERRING A TONER IMAGE FROM A TONER SUBSTRATE TO A TRANSFER SHEET WHICH COMPRISES BRINGING THE TONER SUBSTRATE BEARING THE TONER IMAGE AND THE TRANSFER SHEET TOGETHER INTO FACE TO FACE CONTACT, VIBRATING SAID SUBSTRATE AND SAID SHEET WHILE THEY ARE IN CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER AND SIMULTANEOUSLY APPLYING A TRASNFER MEANS TO EFFECT THE TRASNFER OF SAID TONER IMAGE TO SAID TRANSFER SHEET.
Claim 2
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
22 words
The method as defined in claim 1, wherein said transfer means comprises applying an electric field across the substrate and the sheet.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
20 words
The method as defined in claim 1 wherein said transfer means comprises applying pressure across the substrate and the sheet.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
26 words
The method as defined in claim 1, wherein the vibration is substantially perpendicular to the direction of travel of the toner substrate and the transfer sheet.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
21 words
The method as defined in claim 1, wherein the vibration has an amplitude of about several microns to several hundred microns.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
40 words
The method as defined in claim 1, wherein the toner substrate and transfer sheet are brought together between the nip of at least a pair of rotating rollers with the vibration being applied to at least one of said rollers.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
28 words
The method as defined in claim 1, wherein the ratio of frequency of vibration to peripheral velocity of said rollers is at least about 200 Hz per cm/sec.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
30 words
The method as defined in claim 1, wherein the toner substrate comprises a sheet of paper coated with a mixture including a photoconductive zinc oxide powder and an insulating resin.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
33 words
The method as defined in claim 1 wherein the transfer sheet is selected from the group consisting of a paper material, a plastic film and a paper material coated with a plastic film.
