Abstract
Abstract This invention is directed to strongly bonded composite materials and a process for preparing the same, such materials comprising (1) a resinous matrix containing (2) carbon fibers having a Young''s modulus parallel to the fiber axis of at least about 12 X 106 pounds per square inch and having a substantially continuous coating of amorphous carbon applied to the surface of such fibers prior to admixture with the resin matrix.
