Abstract

Abstract Gear train arrangements for transmitting a power from a driving source to a driven member at more than three speeds in one direction and another speed in the opposite direction, the gear train arrangements using basically three planetary gear sets and at least five friction elements such as clutches and brakes which are selectively actuated to selectively engage the rotary members of the three planetary gear sets to deliver an output power at the above said speeds. The gear train arrangements are specifically adapted for use in an automatic transmission system of a motor vehicle using a torque converter or fluid coupling.
