Abstract
Abstract A method of producing sodium chromate from chromite ore, which involves mixing the ore with sodium carbonate and a refractory diluent, pelleting the mixture using an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, sodium aluminate, sodium silicate, sodium chromate, or mixtures thereof; drying and roasting the pellets under oxidizing conditions, then disintegrating and extracting the pellets to obtain an aqueous solution of sodium chromate. The use of these solutions as pelleting liquids provides pellets of sufficient strength to withstand handling and roasting in a rotary kiln.
