Abstract
Abstract Production of a two-component unitary filament having a given uniform cross-sectional configuration and comprising sheath and core portions consisting of a first and a second synthetic polymers respectively, and produced by separately fluidifying said polymers and simultaneously and concurrently feeding both polymers through a common spinneret orifice for extruding therefrom a composite filament, wherein the said second polymers forms a part of its cross-section, said part being both inwardly and outwardly enclosed by said first polymer and its major portion is located outside the concentric one-half similar shape of the cross-section of the filament.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
154 words
A spinneret for spinning of composite filamentary material comprising sheath and core portions consisting of a first and a second polymeric material respectively, comprising: a. an outer spinneret plate having spinning orifices bored therethrough; b. an inner spinneret plate having internal injecting passages each coaxial to one of said spinning orifices to inject material in and about the axis of each spinning orifice and external injecting passages co-axial to said internal passages to inject material in each spinning orifice in the vicinity of the walls thereof; c. a space confined between said inner and outer spinneret plates and communicating with the inlet end of said internal injecting passages; d. first duct means connecting a source of a first sheathforming fluid and pressurized polymeric material to both said space and said internal injecting passages; and e. second duct means connecting a source of a second coreforming fluid and pressurized polymeric material to said external passages.
