Abstract

Abstract A detergent composition containing 5 to 40 percent of a nonionic or anionic surfactant, 10 to 50 percent of sodium nitrolotriacetate or sodium tripolyphosphate squestering agent, and optionally anti-redeposition agents and optical brighteners, is improved by adding 5 to 40 percent alkali metal silicate and 5 to 40 percent of borax, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, nitriloacetic acid or diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid as a pH controller.
