Abstract
Abstract A novel surface treatment for improving the storageability and thermal stability of non-solvated particulate aluminum hydride. The invention comprises sorbing onto the surface of the aluminum hydride a small amount of a gaseous or liquid stabilizing agent selected from the group consisting of nitrogen oxide, N2F4, oxygen, carbon dioxide, volatile inorganic chlorides, volatile inorganic sulfides, triethylene glycol dinitrate and carbon tetrachloride thereby to provide a surface coating of the stabilizing agent on the surface of the aluminum hydride.
