Abstract
Abstract Cladding glass compositions are disclosed for use in producing light transmitting glass fibers. These fibers are composed of a central core glass surrounded by an outer cladding glass. The cladding glasses have the following range of proportions (by weight): SiO2, 58-68 percent; Al2O3, 8-10 percent; CaO, up to 4 percent; MgO, up to 2 percent; B2O3, 10-12 percent; Na2O, 13-15 percent; and Li2O, 2-3 percent.
