Abstract Glass compositions containing the oxides SiO2, Al2O3, Na2O, CaO, MgO, Fe2O3, K2O, Mn2O3, CrO3 and Cr2O3, wherein the manganese is in its highest oxidation valence state and wherein the weight percent ratio of Cr to Mn, expressed as Cr2O3 to MnO, ranges from 0.05:0.1 to 0.1:0.1.
