Abstract

Abstract A regulated braking system for a vehicle with a plurality of wheels includes a fluid under pressure for selectively actuating the vehicle brakes when a brake pedal or other actuator is displaced to energize the system. Sensors are positioned adjacent different wheels to provide wheel velocity indicating signals for passage through respective conversion circuits, thus providing analog control voltages denoting respective wheel velocities. A wheel select circuit receives all the wheel velocity control signals and passes only one of the control signals to a signal processing circuit. In this circuit an output signal is provided when a change in the control signal signifies an excessive deceleration of one wheel. In turn this output signal operates a pressure relief unit to relieve the braking system pressure and prevent wheel lock-up. A quick-charge circuit rapidly establishes an initial value of the control signal when the braking command is first issued. A blanking circuit prevents operation of the signal processing circuit while the quick-charge circuit operates. A dump extend circuit prolongs the pressure relief interval in the braking system when the wheel speed falls below a predetermined threshold value at the same time that an output signal is being provided to relieve the braking system pressure.
