Abstract
Abstract A method for electrically contacting a silicon body having at least one pn-junction, including adhering a first metal to the body, and adhering a second metal to the first metal and to the body for bridging and completely covering the edge of the interface between the first metal and the body, the oxygen compound of the second metal being stable and forming a stable compound with the oxygen compound of the body.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
114 words
A METHOD FOR ELECTRICALLY CONTACTING A SILICON BODY HAVING AT LEAST ONE PN-JUNCTION, COMPRISING APPLYING A CONTACT LAYER OF A FIRST METAL SELECTED FROM THE GROUP CONSISTING OF NOBLE METALS AND ALLOYS THEREOF TO THE BODY, AND APPLYING A LAYER OF A SECOND METAL, WHICH IS DIFFERENT FROM SAID FIRST METAL AND WHOSE OXYGEN COMPOUND RESULTING FROM OXIDATION OF THE SECOND METAL IS STABLE AT THE INTENDED OPERATING TEMPERATURES OF THE SEMICONDUCTOR BODY AND FORMS A SIMILARYL STABLE COMPOUND WITH OXYGEN COMPOUND OF THE BODY RESULTING FROM OXIDATION THEREOF, TO THE FIRST METAL AND TO THE BODY FOR BRIDGING AND COMPLETELY COVERING THE EDGE OF THE INTERFACE BETWEEN THE FIRST METAL AND THE BODY.
Claim 2
Independent Claim

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
13 words
A method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said second metal is chromium.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
31 words
A method as claimed in claim 2, wherein said step of applying a layer of a second metal provides a second metal layer of a thickness of 0.5 to 2 microns.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
32 words
A method as claimed in claim 3, wherein said step of applying a layer of a second metal provides at least a 0.1 millimeter overlap of said first metal on all sides.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
21 words
A method as claimed in claim 4, wherein the overlap is 1 to 2 millimeters as measured with reference to diameters.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
