Abstract
Abstract 3-Thuyopsanone and its stereo isomers(-)-3-thuyopsanone and (-)3-isothuyospsanone are prepared by oxidation of the sesquiterpene hydrocarbon thuyopsene (or its stereo isomers), or by oxidation, thermal rearrangement, saponification or acid conversion of novel intermediates derived from said hydrocarbon. The tricyclic ketones thus prepared have odoriferous properties which can be used to advantage in perfumes and perfumed products such as cosmetics, soaps, detergents, and the like.
