Abstract
Abstract A process for treating silica fillers comprising contacting the silica filler with a mixture of a hydroxyl amine, a cyclic siloxane and silyl nitrogen compound. These additives are added to the silica simultaneously and allowed to come in contact with the silica filler at a temperature in the range of 100* to 180*C. The remaining amounts of the additives are removed through vacuum devolatilization after the treatment. A filler treated in this manner has a large number of organosiloxy groups appended to it.
