Abstract
Abstract ALUMINUM FLUORIDE IS PRODUCED FROM HYDROGEN FLUORIDE AND ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE OR HYDRATED ALUMINA IN AN EXPANDED FLUIDIZED BED. A SOLID GAS MIXTURE IS DISCHARGED AT THE TOP OF THE BED AND THE SOLIDS THEREIN ARE SEPARATED AND RECYCLED INTO THE THE FLUID BED. LIQUID HYDROGEN FLUORIDE IS SUPPLIED DIRECTLY TO THE FLUID BED ABOVE THE BOTTOM GRATE THEREOF BUT BELOW THE POINT WHERE THE SOLIDS ARE RECYCLED INTO THE BED.
