Abstract Lanolin derivatives essentially comprising esters of lanolin alcohol with lactic acid and higher fatty acids are provided. The derivatives are prepared by direct reaction of lanolin alcohol with the higher fatty acid. The lanolin derivatives disclosed are especially adapted for use as essential or advantageous ingredients of various cosmetic compositions.
