Abstract A POLYESTER FIBRE ARTICLE HAVING A HIGH PILLING RESISTANCE IS PREPARED BY APPLYING A TREATING AGENT CONTAINING A SUBSTANCE CORROSIVE TO THE POLYESTTER FIBRE SUCH AS ZINC CHLORIDE OR ZINC BROMIDE OR ZINC NITRATE, OR A SULFURIC ACID, PERCHLORIC ACID OR BENZENE SULFONIC ACID IN A FINE PARTICLE SIZE NOT EXCEEDING 110U ONTO THE SURFACE OF THE POLYESTER FIBRE ARTICLE SO AS TO SELECTIVELY DEPOSIT THE PARTICLES ON FLUFFS AND OUTSIDE FIBRES ONLY OF THE ARTICLE, AND HEATING THE ARTICLE SO AS TO SELECTIVELY CORRODE THE FLUFFS AND THE OUTSIDE FIBRES. THE RESULTING ARTICLE CONTAINS FULFFS HAVING A POINTED END AND A PERIPHERY ON WHICH APLURALITY OF RECESSES ARE FORMED.
