Abstract
Abstract A device for separating copy carriers such as copy paper sheets from a roll, drum or the like by means of a suction roll includes a wire, rod or like member extending obliquely in front of the suction roll. The wire, rod or like member is arranged so that when a copy carrier is fed forwardly its leading edge reaches the wire for point-contact therewith and as the copy carrier is further moved the point of contact is displaced along the leading edge of the copy carrier and along the wire, whereby the copy carrier is curved toward the suction roll by the wire.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 4
Claim 1
Independent Claim
115 words
In a photocopying device including a roll or drum member for contacting a copy carrier, the improvement comprising a suction roll for separating the copy carrier from the drum member, and a helical wire member disposed adjacent said suction roll to engage only a point on a forward edge of said copy carrier and to guide said copy carrier into contact with said suction roll, said point of engagement of said leading edge with said helical wire member being displacable along said leading edge and along said wire member in response to advancing movement of said copy carrier, and said wire member extending obliquely with respect to the direction of movement of the copy carier.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
24 words
A device according to claim 1 wherein said helical wire member extends helically around a portion of said suction roll in spaced relationship therewith.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
26 words
A device according to claim 1 wherein the distance between said suction roll and said wire member gradually decreases in the circumferential direction of said roll.
