Claim 1
Independent Claim
189 words
A disposable inner mould for the construction of a boat hull, said mould comprising; a hollow, hull shaped form made of flexible non-stretch plastic sheet material tailored into the shape of the inner surface of the boat hull and defining an open end corresponding to a stern portion of said hull; means for securing said sealing said sheet material of said form in an inverted position on an air tight base member leaving said open end of said form free of attachment to said base member; a rigid panel member formed in the shape of the stern portion of said hull and having a profile corresponding to said open end of said form, for mounting on said base member; means for securing and sealing said open end of said form around said profile of said panel member, thereby providing an airtight enclosure within said form and said panel member and said base member; means for inflating said form to adopt its predetermined nonstretch tailored hull shape as aforesaid, and, contour control means for supporting portions of the form whereby to retain it in its tailored predetermined non-stretch hull shape.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
51 words
A disposable mould as claimed in claim 1 wherein said contour control means comprises at least two inner bracing members mounted within said form spaced at a predetermined elevation above said base member, and adapted to contact the interior of said form for supporting the same and controlling the contours therefrom.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
44 words
A disposable mould as claimed in claim 1 wherein said base member provides said contour control means, said base member being curved into a predetermined shape, whereby to stress said form and control the contours thereof and support it in its predetermined hull shape.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
39 words
A disposable mould as claimed in claim 3 includes means supporting said base member at spaced intervals along the length of said form, said support means having varying dimensions whereby to maintain said base member in its curved formation.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
31 words
A disposable mould as claimed in claim 1 including opening means formed in said panel member, and fan means in communication with said opening means for inflating said form as aforesaid.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
149 words
A disposable mould as claimed in claim 1 wherein said base member is curved into a predetermined contour, said form being fastened to said base member, and substantially pneumatically sealed thereagainst, said rigid panel member being located at one end of said base member and mounted in an upstanding manner, and having a profile shaped to conform to the transverse section of said form at the stern end thereof, said form being fastened around said profile portion of said panel member and substantially pneumatically sealed thereto; inner bracer members mounted on said base member within said form, and located to contact the interior of said form when the same is inflated whereby to locate portions of said form, and maintain them in their predetermined tailored hull shape when inflated; opening means in said panel member, and fan means connected to said opening means for inflating said form as aforesaid.
Claim 8
Independent Claim
163 words
A method of manufacturing a boat hull having at least a partial deck in successive stages, said method comprising; forming a hull, said hull having an undecked open top defining a free edge extending therearound; fastening an air tight bulkhead in said boat hull at an intermediate point along its length said bulkhead defining a free edge extending from said hull; fastening a flexible non-stretch form from the free edge of a portion of said boat hull to said bulkhead, and fastening the same around the free edge of said bulkhead, and substantially pneumatically sealing the same thereby forming an air tight enclosure between the hull portion, the bulkhead and the form; inflating the interior of said boat hull enclosed by said bulkhead and said flexible form, whereby to inflate said form and cause it to adopt a predetermined non-stretch shape; forming an upper portion of said boat over at least a portion of said flexible form, and, subsequently removing said flexible form.
Claim 9
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
48 words
A method as claimed in claim 7 including the step of fastening a further flexible form between the stern of said hull and said bulkhead, inflAting the same, and forming at least a portion of the upper portion of said boat over said form, and removing said form.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
62 words
A method as claimed in claim 7 including the further step of fastening an additional bulkhead member to said bulkhead, and fastening a further flexible form to said further bulkhead member, and to said newly formed top portion of said hull, inflating said further form, forming a further top portion of said boat on said further form, and removing said further form.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
41 words
A method as claimed in claim 7 including the steps of removing said newly formed upper portion from said flexible form, removing said form, and replacing said newly formed upper portion in position on said hull and fastening the same thereon.
