Abstract

Abstract A roller assembly for front loading dishwashers employing a tub with a plastic interior surface includes a plastic roller mounting stud that seals tightly at its base with the tub surface. The roller mounting stud includes a means for sealing the stud to the tub wall including an integral, annular sealing ridge upstanding from the tub wall engaging end of the stud in surrounding relation to a central mounting bore for deforming and/or abrading the softer tub wall into fluid tight sealing engagement with the annular ridge. A plurality of the roller mounting assemblies are anchored in a common reinforcing channel member backing a metal collar adjacent the front open end of the dishwasher.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 120 words
A dishwashing machine having a tub for storing dishes to be washed therein, the tub having an interior plastic surface, a component mounting opening in said interior plastic surface, a component mounting assembly adapted to seal around said mounting opening comprising a component mounting element having an interior tub surface engaging face and resilient deformable fingers, including bevelled ends, extending therefrom and fastener means extending through said opening, said tub surface engaging face having an integral annular outwardly projecting sealing ridge for contactably sealing with said interior plastic tub surface and said bevelled ends camming said fingers outwardly to define a washer-type bearing surface when said mounting element is drawn tightly against said interior plastic surface by said fastener means.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 120 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 34 words
The combination of claim 1 wherein said tub surface engaging face is relatively harder than said interior plastic surface whereby said sealing ridge deforms said interior plastic surface and embeds therein to seal therewith.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 164 words
In combination with a domestic appliance tub having an interior plastic surface backed by a metal support frame and aligned component mounting openings in said interior plastic surface and metal support frame, the improvement comprising: a component mounting assembly for sealing said mounting openings and transmitting torques from the interior of said tub to said metal support frame via said aligned openings; said mounting assembly comprising a component mounting element having an interior tub surface engaging face including a fastener receiving opening circumscribed by a continuous sealing ridge outstanding from and integral with said tub surface engaging face and resilient deformable fingers, including bevelled ends, extending therefrom; and fastener means extending through said aligned openings and into said fastener receiving opening and clamping said sealing ridge into embedding contact with said interior plastic tub surface, said bevelled ends camming said fingers outwardly to define a washer-type bearing surface when said mounting element is drawn tightly against said interior plastic surface by said fastener means.
