Abstract
Abstract An improved method of tempering glass is disclosed. The improvement comes in the step of preheating the trailing edge of a glass sheet supported on a glass handling fixture prior to the glass sheet''s entry into a glass heating chamber. The other steps of the method are as taught in the glass tempering art. The preheating stop reduces the tendency for a heated glass sheet to break when it is rapidly cooled in a quenching station.
