Abstract

Abstract A class of ''''self-correcting'''' typewriter ribbons is described, having an inking portion and an obliterating portion, whose members share the common property of having those portions spaced apart from one another by a gap (either edgewise or face-wise) to ensure against transfer of ink to the obliterating material. The gap facilitates manufacture, and in one form, or group of forms, a metallic layer on one of the portions is used to reduce friction in the ribbon guides, improve the appearance of the ribbon, and provide a visual indication to the user that the ribbon is properly installed for use.
