Abstract A NEW CLASS OF BISTHIOETHERS HAS BEEN PREPARED BY CONDENSING AN ALKALI METAL SALT OF AN HYDROXYALKYL OR HYBROXYARYLMERCAPTAN WITH REACTIVE AROMATIC HALOGEN COMPOUNDS SUCH AS HEXACHLORINATED,HEXACHLOROBENZENEBISPHENOL ADDUCTS, MULTICHLOROBENZENE, HEXACHLOROBENZENECHLORODIPHENYL SULFONE. SIMILAR BISTHIOETHERS CAN BE PREPARED BY SUBSTITUTING SALTS OF AMINO OR CARBALKOXY MERCAPTANS FOR THE HYDROXY MERCAPTAN.
