Abstract

Abstract Disclosed is a method for forming an array of conductive crystalline dendrites of reduced rutile in a glass-ceramic insulating matrix by crystallizing certain compositions containing titania and silica in a non-oxidizing atmosphere under the influence of a thermal gradient to form a parallel array of conductive reduced rutile dendrites. Several of such dendrites are joined to form a coaxial bundle (i.e., a bundle having substantially parallel conductors) through the matrix by means of conductive caps on opposing faces of the matrix.
