Abstract

Abstract A blast furnace slag product adapted for use in the manufacture of glass is produced by depositing successive loads of slag each having a composition within a predetermined range, in spaced locations within a storage area so as to produce a layer composed of numerous individual loads each differing more or less in composition within said range. Several such layers are arranged one upon another after which the material required for use is removed from the storage area in a direction transverse to said layers and the material thus removed is ground and subjected to magnetic separation whreby a product of highly uniform composition is obtained.
