Abstract

Abstract An article of manufacture in the form of a composite integrated rake having a series of parallel or radially aligned resin bonded tines each integral at a common end to a resin bonded stockhead. Each of the tines have substantially unidirectional reinforcement comprising parallel rovings of filamentary material contiguous with a part of the stockhead. The stockhead comprises, in combination with contiguous tine rovings, superimposed unidirectional filamentary rovings transposed in a direction transverse to the direction of the contiguous tine rovings. The method of manufacturing the rake includes the reciprocal passage of resin dipped rovings deposited in spaced slots forming rake tines in combination with transversely disposed resin dipped rovings deposited before and/or after depositing of the tine roving to form the integrated stockhead of the rake, followed by curing of the composite rake structure.
