Abstract
Abstract An olefin and an aldehyde may be reacted in the presence of an aqueous solution of a strong acid and cuprous chloride in a twophase reaction system to produce unsaturated 1-alcohols and diols which are readily converted into compounds useful as detergents, polyesters and the like and dioxanes which may be used as solvents.
