Abstract
Abstract In a process in which a C5 fraction from a cracked naphtha or gas oil is polymerised with the help of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst to produce a petroleum resin, the C5 fraction is first heated to a temperature of 160* to 250*C for a period of up to 5 hours and is then held at a temperature in the range 100* to 160*C for a further period of up to 5 hours.
