Abstract

Abstract The chain drive has one run deflected and biased about a tensioning wheel which is mounted on a pivotal support. The support is, in turn, mounted on a pivot axis by means of an elongated tension spring element made up of a pair of concentric tubes and a resilient material between the tubes. The resilient material allows deflection of the support when an abrupt tension force is imparted to the chain as in the case upon braking.
