Abstract METHOD FOR THE VAPOR PHASE CONVERSION OF ACETONE TO 3,5-XYLENOL IN A SNGLE STAGE OVER A MAGNESIUM OXIDE CATALYST. THE ADVANTAGES OF THIS INVENTION ARE EXCELLENT SINGLE STAGE SELECTIVITY OF 3,5-XYLENOL AND WITH RECYCLING OF INTERMEDIATE PRODUCTS ULTIMATE YIELDS OF 90 PERCENT OR MORE ARE OBTAINABLE.
