Abstract

Abstract There is described an apparatus for detecting the presence or absence of fluid. The apparatus comprises an electrical circuit and a sensor device electrically joined to the circuit. The sensor device comprises a housing member defining a first chamber, a tip member secured to the housing and forming a second chamber adjacent said first chamber, a diaphragm member forming a common closure for both chambers, heating means within the second chamber, a first contact within the first chamber, and a second contact affixed to the diaphragm also within the first chamber. This second contact is adapted for engaging the first contact when the temperature difference between the two chambers exceeds a predetermined level.
