Abstract

Abstract A desk top calculator includes a display device which displays the numerical information. This display device consumes considerable power. In order to minimize the power consumption by the display device, display of the numerical information is ceased with the lapse of a predetermined period after once the numerical information is displayed. Instead, a pattern or patterns other than the numerical information is displayed on the display device to indicate that the numerical information is held in the register without displaying.
