Apparatus for bonding thermoplastic materials and products thereof
Abstract
Abstract This invention relates to the bonding of thermoplastic material, and more particularly to apparatus for forming corrugated paperboard by firstly applying a coating or film of thermoplastic material to the surfaces to be bonded and then heating the thermoplastic material by the direct application of an open flame to the thermoplastic surface. The open flame heats a surface layer of the thermoplastic material to render it bondable with the other element of the laminate. The disclosure also relates to an apparatus including means for supplying, corrugating and bonding coated paper to form corrugated paperboard, and to apparatus for uniting the paper and holding it together while the bond harden.
