Abstract IN THE PROCESS FOR TRANSFERRING AN AQUEOUS SLURRY OF CALCIUM SULFATE, CALCIUM, SULFITE, CALCIUM CARBONATE, DOLOMITE, MAGNESIUM SULFATE, MAGNESIUM SULFITE, MAGNESIUM CARBONATE, FLY ASH OR MIXTURE THEREOF IN CONTACT WITH SURFACE AREAS TO A SETTLING CHAMBER WHERE THE SOLIDS ARE SEPARATED FROM THE LIQUID, POLYACRYLAMIDE IS ADDED TO THE SLURRY TO PREVENT SCALE FORMATION ON THE SURFACES. SUBSEQUENT SEPARATION OF THE SOLIDS FROM THE SLURRY IS NOT ADVERSELY AFFECTED.
