Abstract
Abstract A reactor for use in gasifying carbonaceous materials comprising inner and outer shells defining concentric chambers, one to be filled with a metal oxide for producing and heating gases to be used in the gasification process, and the other to be filled with the carbonaceous material to be gasified. The inner shell includes passageway means in the lower portion thereof communicating two chambers. The inner and outer shells are comprised of spaced walls having heat exchange fluid conduits disposed therein whereby the temperature within the chambers can be controlled within certain limits.
