Abstract NOVEL ETHERS ARE PREPARED VIA THE INTERACTION OF PENTACHLOROBENZONITRILE WITH ALKALI METAL SALTS OF SATURATED ALIPHATIC ALCOHOLS SUCH AS METHANOL, ETHANOL, PROPANOL, TBUTANOL AND AROMATIC ALCOHOLS SUCH AS PHENOL, OR SUBSTITUTED PHENOLS. THESE NEW COMPOUNDS HAVE BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY AND ARE ALSO USEFUL AS CHEMICAL INTERMEDIATES.
