Abstract DIPEPTIDE ESTER SWEETNERS ARE PROVIDED HEREIN OF THE FORMULA: HOOC-CH2-CH(-NH2)-CO-NH-CH(-CH2-O-R)-COO-CH3 WHEREIN R IS TETIARY BUTYL OR TETIARY AMYL AND ITS PHYSIOLOGICALLY ACCEPTABLE SALT. THE PRESENT INVENTION ALSO RELATES TO METHODS OF PREPARING THE AFOREMENTIONED COMPOUNDS AS WELL AS SWEETENING COMPOSITONS CONTAINING DIPEPTIDE ESTERS.
