Abstract
Abstract An oil filter is formed from a pair of concentric wire frame cylinders having a cylinder of filter paper positioned between them. The filter paper is preferably made from fiber of 100 percent mercerized wood pulp, saturated by a melamineformaldehyde resin, which is 30 percent by weight. The preferred paper is 32.0 mils thick with an A.C. oil flow test of 150 secs/1,000cc and a Frazier Air Flow of 2.4 cubic feet per square foot of filter material, at a differential pressure of one-half inch of water. The maximum pore size is such that the bubble point is reached at a pressure of forty inches of water.
