Abstract THE INVENTION RELATES TO NEW DIBENZOFURAN COMPOUNDS, WHICH ARE SUBSTITUTED IN POSITION 2 OR 3 WITH A BENZOXAZOLYL-STYRYL RESIDUE AND WHEREIN THE BENZOXAZOLYL MOIETY MAY BE FURTHER SUBTITUTED WITH NON-CHROMOPHORIC SUBSTITUENTS. THE COMPOUNDS ARE USEFUL AS FLUORESCENT WHITENING AGENTS ESPECIALLY FOR SPINNING MASSES OF SYNTHETIC ORGANIC MATERIALS.
