Coffee making machine convertible between funnel-filter operation and pouch pack operation

Claim 2

In a coffee making machine in which hot water may be supplied to infuse ground coffee, in combination, funnel supporting rails for receiving a first funnel carrying a filter having ground coffee thereon, an adapter plate slidable on said rails, funnel support arms depending from said adapter plate, and a second funnel detachably mounted on said support arms for receiving a ground coffee containing pouch pack.

Claim 3

The coffee making machine according to claim 1 wherein the hot water is suppled to the pouch pack through a nozzle terminating in a plate for contact engagement with said pouch pack to hold it against expansion and to force the hot water to flow through said pouch pack.

Claim 4

The coffee making machine according to claim 1 wherein a removable plate is positionable at different levels in said second funnel to accommodate different thicknesses of pouch packs.

Claim 5

In a coffee making machine in which hot water is supplied to infuse ground coffee, in combination, funnel supporting rails for receiving a first funnel carrying a filter having ground coffee thereon, an adapter plate slidable on said rails, funnel support arms depending from said adapter plate, a second funnel detachably mounted on said support arms for receiving a ground coffee containing pack, an air vent line connected to a hot water containing tank through a shut off valve, an inlet water line for supplying cold water under pressure to said tank through a supply valve, and means to close said shut off valve and open said supply valve to perform a coffee brewing cycle, said valves operating in reverse order at the end of the brewing cycle to reestablish the siphon-out level of the hot water in said tank and place the same in direct communication with the atmosphere.

Claim 6

In a coffee making machine in which hot water is supplied to infuse ground coffee, in combination, funnel supporting rails for receiving a first funnel carrying a filter having ground coffee thereon, an adapter plate slidable on said rails, funnel support arms depending from said adapter plate, a second funnel detachably mounted on said support arms for receiving a ground coffee containing pack, an air vent line connected to a hot water containing tank through a shut off valve, an inlet water line for supplying cold water under pressure to said tank through a supply valve, and means to close said shut off valve and open said supply valve to perform a coffee brewing cycle, said valves operating in reverse order at the end of the brewing cycle to reestablish the siphon-out level of the hot water in said tank and place the same in direct communication with the atmosphere.

Claim 7

In a coffee making machine in which hot water is suppled to infuse ground coffee, in combination, funnel supporting rails for receiving a first funnel carrying a filter having ground coffee thereon, an adapter plate slidable on said rails, funnel support arms depending from said adapter plate, a second funnel containing a front side with a shoulder thereon, said second funnel being detachably mounted on said support arms for receiving a ground coffee containing pack, and said support arms comprising a front arm having a hook portion at its lower end to engage the shoulder on the front side of said second funnel and a rear arm having a ledge to engage the rear under side of said second funnel.

Claim 8

In a coffee making machine in which hot water is suppled to infuse ground coffee, in combination, funnel supporting rails for receiving a first funnel carrying a filter having ground coffee thereon, an adapter plate slidable on said rails, funnel support arms depending from said adapter plate, a second funnel containing a front side with a shoulder thereon, said second funnel being detachably mounted on said support arms for receiving a ground coffee containing pack, and said support arms comprising a front arm having a hook portion at its lower end to engage the shoulder on the front side of said second funnel and a rear arm having a ledge to engage the rear under side of said second funnel.

Claim 9

In a coffee making machine, in combination, means for infusing ground coffee on a filter in a first funnel with hot water at atmospheric pressure, means for infusing ground coffee in a pouch pack in a second funnel, means for mounting either funnel in operative position, an air vent line connected to a hot water containing tank through a shut off valve, an inlet water line for supplying cold water under pressure to said tank through a supply valve, and means to close said shut off valve and open said supply valve to perform a coffee brewing cycle, said valves operating in reverse order at the end of the brewing cycle to reestablish the siphon-out level of the hot water in said tank and place the same in direct communication with the atmosphere.

Claim 10

In a coffee making machine, in combination, means for infusing ground coffee on a filter in a first funnel with hot water at atmospheric pressure, means for infusing ground coffee in a pouch pack in a second funnel, means for mounting either funnel in operative position, an air vent line connected to a hot water containing tank through a shut off valve, an inlet water line for supplying cold water under pressure to said tank through a supply valve, and means to close said shut off valve and open said supply valve to perform a coffee brewing cycle, said valves operating in reverse order at the end of the brewing cycle to reestablish the siphon-out level of the hot water in said tank and place the same in direct communication with the atmosphere.

Claim 11

In a coffee making machine, in combination, means for infusing ground coffee on a filter in a first funnel with hot water at atmospheric pressure, means for infusing ground coffee in a pouch pack in a second funnel containing a front side with a shoulder thereon, means for mounting either funnel in operative position, a pair of supporting rails for receiving said first funnel, an adapter plate slidable on said rails, funnel support arms depending from said adapter plate and means for detachably mounting said second funnel on said support arms, said support arms comprising a front arm having the hook portion at its lower end to engage a Shoulder on the front side of said second funnel, and a rear arm having a ledge to engage the rear under side of said second funnel.

Claim 12

In a coffee making machine, in combination, means for infusing ground coffee on a filter in a first funnel with hot water at atmospheric pressure, means for infusing ground coffee in a pouch pack in a second funnel containing a front side with a shoulder thereon, means for mounting either funnel in operative position, a pair of supporting rails for receiving said first funnel, an adapter plate slidable on said rails, funnel support arms depending from said adapter plate and means for detachably mounting said second funnel on said support arms, said support arms comprising a front arm having the hook portion at its lower end to engage a Shoulder on the front side of said second funnel, and a rear arm having a ledge to engage the rear under side of said second funnel.
