Abstract
Abstract A thyristor motor including an AC motor, a thyristor converter and a controllable DC power source, the special feature of which resides in that there are included means which operate in effect to switch the power supply to the motor between the controllable DC power source and an AC power source, so that the power is supplied from the AC power source when the motor is rotating at a speed lower than a threshold value, but at a speed exceeding the threshold speed, the power is supplied from the DC power source. The advantage obtained is that the current capacity and the breakdown voltage required for the thyrister converter are reduced.
