Abstract

Abstract An electromechanical transducer has a coreless rotor winding formed of a series of loops, each of the loops having an active portion inclined to both the axial and tangential directions of the rotor and an inactive head portion oriented perpendicular to the axial direction. The relative length of the head portion of each loop affects the electrical characteristics of the transducer, such as starting torque, time constant and efficiency. By selecting the proper relative length for the head portion, the performance characteristics of the transducer may be optimized.
