Abstract
Abstract A process for making citric acid is disclosed which is formed by inoculating a strain of Candida oleophilia to a culture medium of a waste glucose solution containing a high calcium ion and chloride ion content formed by adding calcium chloride to a mixed sugar solution of fructose and glucose. The fructose-calcium chloride addition compound is precipitated out and the remaining solution is employed as the culture medium for producing citric acid. High yields of the citric acid on an industrial scale result.
