Abstract
Abstract A method for electrostatically applying solid particles to an article includes the steps of forming the solid particles into a pattern and directing them at the article, preferably in a relatively flat, fan-like spray. An electrostatic field is established between the article and an electrode that creates a single highly ionized zone offset from and rearwardly of the spray. The percentage of solid particles which are sprayed but remain undeposited is reduced using this method.
