Abstract
Abstract A filter chamber including a shaking mechanism for vibrating dust from filter bags in a sweeping machine wherein an eccentric weight is mounted onto an electric motor, and the motor in turn is mounted on spring means which are attached to the filter bags and retain the bags under spring tension. The control for turning on the vibrator motor also controls a valve which shuts off vacuum flow to the filter compartment so that the dust will more easily fall down from the sides of the filter bag at the same time the shaking occurs.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
289 words
In a filtering device, a housing having an inlet opening and an outlet opening, blower means connected to one of said openings to cause a flow of dust laden air from the inlet to the outlet openings, filter means mounted in said housing to filter said flow of air caused by said blower means, the path of flow of air from said inlet to said outlet being substantially only through said filter means, an electrically actuated vibrator means connected to the filter means, means mounting said vibrator means on the housing in position to transmit vibratory motion to said filter means, a valvE mounted with respect to said housing at one of said openings to control air flow through one of said openings and operable from a first valve position wherein said valve substantially blocks air flow through said one opening to a second valve position wherein the valve permits flow of air through said one opening when said blower means is operating, a switch mounted with respect to said housing and being electrically connected in a circuit to provide power to said electrically actuated vibrator means when the switch is moved to an on position, a manually actuable control rod connected to said valve to permit operation of said valve between said first and second valve positions, and switch actuator means mounted on said control rod and positioned adjacent said switch, said switch actuator means engaging and closing said switch to its on position to thereby energize said electrically actuated vibrator means whenever said control rod is actuated to move the valve to its first valve position, said switch returning to an off position when the valve is moved to its second valve position by said control rod.

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
26 words
The device of claim 1 wherein said vibrator means comprises an electric motor having an output shaft, and an eccentric weight mounted on said output shaft.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
73 words
The device of claim 1 and a conduit connected to said one opening, said valve means comprising a butterfly valve in said conduit, said control rod being rotatable to actuate said butterfly valve means, and said actuator means comprising an offset portion formed in said control rod positioned adjacent said switch, said offset portion engaging said switch when said control rod is moved to move the butterfly valve to its first valve position.
